I finished this book last night.  I only had two chapters left to read when I went to bed.  It was a very good book and yes, I would recommend reading this one.  The book was published by in 1931, was the best seller for two years and won both the Pulitzer Prize and the Howells Medal in 1935.  In 1937 MGM made it into a movie which I may have to look into renting if I can.   9 times out of 10 books are much better than the movie but I do enjoy seeing changes they make to the story.
Next up is Bare Bones by Kathy Reichs.

Today’s "Stitching
Blogger’s Question" was suggested by Cheryl and is:

Have you
ever just quit a project while in the midst of it? (We’re not referring to UFOs
here, rather projects that you know that you’ll never work on again.) Why? What
did you do with it – throw it out, give it away, put it

Funny that this is the
question because I was just talking about this the other day with my
friend.  I have two projects that have been abandoned.  One
is a Guardian Angel that I had started for my mom.  However,
I moved back home after I had started this and didn’t want to work on
it around her.  So, it got stuffed in a bag.
I had also started this
one project that I didn’t finish because I couldn’t find the
right size tart pan to finish it into a pin cushion.  So, I didn’t
finish stitching it.  A couple of years ago, I was at Wal-mart and
found the right size tart pans.  Though I am not sure that I will actually
finish stitching it.
With the Guardian Angel
I would much rather stitch it on evenweave than finish it on the aida,

Wild Wednesday

Okay, maybe it isn’t
really all that wild but hey, it is Wednesday.
I am watching and
Tivo-ing Ellen.  My favorite actress is on today…Jennifer
Garner!!  I love her.  Tomorrow Alias premieres and I can’t
wait.  Plus, my forth season is on pre-order and will be coming out next
month.  Can’t wait!!  Right now I am getting VERY ticked off…the
cable keeps going out!!!!
I dropped off Hannah at
school today.  The book order had come in.  Yea!  I ordered the
newest If You Give A…book.  We love these.  The new one is If
You Give A Pig A Party
and I glanced thru it really quick.  Moose and
Mouse are in the book too.  :0)
Sean and I went to the
movies on Monday and saw Flightplan with Jodie Foster.  I thought
it was pretty good.
I am going to stop by
the LNS this afternoon.  I don’t know if anything new will be in but here’s

The weekend…

is ending.
My friends came over today.  We chatted, played games on the computer, ate…you know, enjoyed each other’s company. We are all looking forward to next weekend’s birthday stitching slumber party.
Sean is on his way home.  He will be here about 10 pm so even tho I am watching the premiere of Desperate Housewives at 9 pm I am also going to TiVo it so that if he gets home early I won’t miss any.  :0)  He is also taking tomorrow off so that he can take me out for breakfast and a movie.  After we pick up Hannah from school we will go out for dinner.
I am starting to feel like I am getting sick.  I think it is just that I haven’t been getting enough sleep lately.  I can’t seem to put my book down at night.  Plus the alarm goes off pretty early in the morning.  Sean usually gets up early with Hannah on the weekend and since he wasn’t here I was up with the little sunshine.
Little House Needleworks has two new patterns that are coming out.  I love them especially the Coffee Menu.  When my friends came over I told them out them and showed the pictures that were online.  Since one of my friends is the owner of the LNS here in town, we all told her that when they come in we want them.  So even on a day the at the store was closed, she is making some sales.  :0)
Well off to stitch.  TTFN!!

Busy as a bee

Thursday I decided that I would groom JoJo.  Poor thing!  It took
the entire day.  I brushed her out then put her in the tub to use the
trimmer on her.  I had to stop to shower, pick up Hannah from school then
come back and actually bathe her.  It didn’t turn out so well.  There
are a couple of spots where I trimmed a bit to short and it is all uneven.
Sean came home and said that it would grow out.  (Today I spent a little
time making it more even and she looks much better.)
Friday there wasn’t any school since it was Fair Day.  Hannah and
I got up early and met up with friends at the fair.  We got there a little
early and we checked out the entries for needlework.  A friend from the LNS
entered a beautiful Martina Weber piece.  It was stunning!  Our
friends showed up and the girls rode the rides and played some games.  Then
the four of us had lunch before heading over to see the farm animals.
There was a litter of piglets a few weeks old and a litter that was just a
couple of days old.  That morning just hours before we got there a calf had
been born.  So cute!  We also saw the horses and Hannah got to pet
one.  We both love horses.  I think that they are just
magnificent looking.  Oh, Hannah earlier had had her very first pony
ride.  And though I know I am her mother, she looked like a natural.
I rode horses as a kid when I lived in Texas and I have been secretly hoping
since before she was born that we will be able to find a place for her to
have lessons.  I am pretty sure that she will want to and there are a
couple of places not to far.
Today Sean got up extra early and headed out to pick up his friend then
headed to Dover.  For Father’s Day I got him tickets for NASCAR.  They
watched the practice today and the Busch series race.  They will head home
tomorrow after the race.
I stopped by the LNS on the way home from the fair yesterday.  My
friends had a surprise for me.  They had decided to have a stitching
slumber party next Saturday for my birthday that is this month.  We also
decided that they were going to come over here Sunday.  So I spent the
entire day cleaning the house.  I did a lot of things that I have been
putting off for some time….straightening up Hannah’s toys, organizing some
stuff in the kitchen, office, spare room, things like that.
No stitching for me for the last two days and now it is getting late.
I am thinking of heading to bed and reading a little.  Tomorrow I hope to
get some stitching in.  TTFN!

Stitching Blogger Question

Today’s "Stitching Blogger’s Question" was suggested by Carol http://carolsxsblog.blogspot.com/ and is:

What is the most challenging specialty stitch you have ever stitched?

I haven’t really done a whole lot of specialty stitches.  I tend to avoid projects that have them.  I have attempted a few and the one I found most difficult is the Rhodes Heart.

I have been enabled

During my morning reads of other blogs, I came across one ( http://www.kiwijo.blogspot.com/ ) that had just finished a pillow that looks great.  She had posted that she used the instructions in Summer Truswell’s Finishing book, so of course I had to check it out.  I saw that there are instructions on how to finish a needlebook…YEA!…as well as wall-hangings, pillows and flat folds.  I decided that this is a must have for me and ordered it.  I can’t wait to get it.  I will admit now that I have zip in the skill of sewing, but I have been hoping to overcome my lack of ability and I hope that I will be able to make a few finishes here and there.
Last night started the official new season of TV.  For anyone who truly knows me, they know it is a fact that I am a TV junkie.  So the season preimere of new shows is very exciting for me.  My TiVo will be getting much more use in the coming months.  There are times when there are at least two show on that I want to watch so since there is nothing worth watching during the day with a few exceptions like Ellen, I TiVo and watch during the day.
More TV shows also means more stitching for me.  I got a good start on the forth room of the doll house last night while watching a few show.  A new show that Sean liked…Surface…, a couple of sitcoms and Meduim.  I love this show.  I was hoping for an Emmy win for Jennifer Garner since she is my fav, but I was happy for Patricia Arquette.  Oh, and I recently ordered the 4th season of Alias and I finally broke down…I ordered Friends: The One With All 10 Seasons.  Both are pre-orders, so I can’t wait to receive them when they are released.
So today I should be finishing some laundry and a few other things around the house, but I just haven’t motivated myself to do anything…so I guess I should start.  :0)   TTFN!

The Weekend Update

Busy weekend here.  Let’s see…Friday night I finished the forth room in the Dollhouse
Saturday was Red Hat Stitchers day at the LNS.  So I headed over there around 1 pm and stayed a few hours stitching, chatting and laughing with friends.  We started our SAL of The Seasons by Bent Creek.  There are four of us stitching it tho only three of us were there.  One of our friends was in FL this weekend for a wedding.
When I got home Sean, Hannah and I went to the toy store so that Hannah could get a birthday present for her friend.  Then we went to eat at Panera.  My worst fear has come true….the Fuji Apple Chicken Salad is no longer on the menu!!!  It was a seasonal menu item and I hope that it will be back next summer.  We stopped and rented movies…Crash and Fever Pitch.  After Hannah went to bed, Sean and I watched them both while I continued to stitch on the SAL project.
Today I got up early and headed over to my friend’s house where we met up to have a Neopet party.   (same friends that I stitch with at the LNS)  I hadn’t been into the Neopet thing before but joined up today.  I had to leave a little early since I had to come home, pick up Hannah and take her to Chuck E Cheese for a birthday party.  Hannah had been dressed to go since 8:30 am.  It made me sad because I had to explain to her that it wasn’t until 3 pm, that I was going out and would be back later to pick her up.  She said that she understood and just wanted to get dressed to go.  She wore a cute little sundress and fake clear pearl necklace…so cute.  Several of her friends from pre-school last year, including her best friend, were at the party and she had a good time.
Tonight my plans are to watch the Emmy Awards while stitching.

I am almost finished stitching the
fourth room on the dollhouse.  Mostly thanks to not having done much of
anything today except keeping my foot up and stitching.   It doesn’t
really hurt to walk, but my ankle looks like a golf ball.  I do
have to be careful of how I move it.  Sean yelled at me and said that I
should have put ice on it sooner.
I did take and pick up Hannah from
school.  We picked up something to eat on our way home for an early
dinner.  Sean is working late today so he will either pick something up or
fend for himself when he gets home.
I decided to start reading The
Good Earth
by Pearl S. Buck.  I am enjoying it so far.  Not quite
what I was expecting.  It has been hard to put down and I have been falling
asleep while reading because I want to find out what is going to happen.
Off to stitch a bit more and
hopefully finish the room…TTFN!

So, I was playing
hopscotch with Hannah today on our sidewalk managed to twist my ankle.
After a few minutes I was able to limp on it.  But to bend it a certain way
it really HURTS!  I am walking on it okay now so I forgot about it for a
minute and when I went to sit down, I pulled my leg up under me to sit down on
it and Wow! I was reminded very quickly.  For now I have my leg up and
icing my ankle.  I hope that it won’t be to bad tomorrow.
