Archive for January, 2006

I feel pretty
good about the progress I made on the goals I set for myself.  I am going
to keep setting goals but keeping it light.  Here is last month’s stitching
goals and what I accomplished…

January
Stitching Goals

1.  Continue working on My
Teacher
by Bobbie G
Designs

Completed the school house portion of the pattern and
started the alphabet which goes around the the school house  ~
WIP
2.  Complete sixth room on the
Dollhouse
by Brightneedle, Inc.
Yes!  And in record time, only six days to stitch room six ~
WIP
3.  Start Walking In A Winter
Snapperland
by Bent Creek
Started stitching the freebie border ~ WIP
4.  Stitch on And They
Sinned
by Examplar Dames Designs on Sundays
Yep!  WIP
5.  Decide on wedding and birth
announcements to stitch…kit to start
For
the wedding present design I have decided on the Leisure Arts’
Cherished Scripture
Samplers
 design.  I have
working copy and fabric ready, but won’t pull the threads (all DMC) until I
start it.  For the birth announcement, L*K’s
Baby Sampler
.  Since this pattern is charted a little
differently for a boy or girl, I have decided to wait until after the
baby is born to stitch it so I won’t be kitting this at all until then.

Though not part of the listed goals for the month, I also stitched on The Promise by Just Nan,
Inc. a little here and a little there.

We will be going on vacation this month
for a week, so I am keeping my goals short and sweet.

February Stitching
Goals

1.  Continue working
on
My
Teacher
by Bobbie G
Designs
2.  Continue using Sundays for stitching
on And They Sinned by Examplar Dames Designs (with the exception
of while we are on vacation, of course)
3.  Vacation stitching….I have tons of little kits
and I have packed a couple of them in my bag to take.  And They
Sinned is much to large to take and My Teacher could be portable, so I might
take it with but haven’t decided.

A quick update

I am feeling much better
today than last week.  But as a result of being sick, I didn’t get much
stitching in, so I haven’t made as much progress on My Teacher as I
would have liked.  Will need to make up for that with the new week.
Yesterday was And They Sinned stitching day and I only got a bit
stitched as we went out during the day.  I am thinking that I might stitch
on ATS during the Saturdays of February since we will be gone for a vacation,
but I am not sure.  I do think that once I finish the teachers’ gifts I
will though.  I really enjoy stitching on it.

I went to Red Hat
Stitcher’s at the LNS on Saturday.  We celebrated our friend’s birthday
with cake and took her out to dinner afterwards too.  We had a really good
time.  Oh, and my friend had a really great suggestion while there.  I
was commenting on how the My Teacher might be a little pricey to frame
and she suggested that I have it made into a wallhanging instead.  I think
I might do that.

I did pick up the three
new Lizzie*Kate flip-its,
The Most Patterns by Waxing Moon Designs and
Multiplication Table
by Carriage House
Samplings.  I thought that one might make a nice gift for a math teacher
someday.

Today is Laundry day,
but I am hoping to get a few stitches here and there between loads.

Sick Day

What I should be doing is the checkbook and bills, but I am avoiding it.  I like being the one in charge of the finances, but sometimes I am just not in the mood.  Like today.

I am sick.  So I am really not in the mood for much.  I should also walk the treadmill today but decided that I will skip it since I am completely stuffed up.  Head colds are the worst.  Hannah has it too, but thankfully this time I have it worse than her.  It isn’t slowing her down at all.  Sean called and said that he feels that he is getting it now too.  Last night I said that it is better we all are sick now instead of next month when we are on vacation.  Just about three more weeks and off to sunny Florida we go.

I do need to go to the grocery store.  I need my comfort foods.  Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese sandwiches.  I also need to pick up Chicken Noodle soup.  I only have a can of each.  As well as other things we need.

I haven’t gotten much stitching done in the last few days.  I didn’t stitch at all on Tuesday and only about an hour yesterday while watching Lost.  I started to watch Invasion but turned on the TiVo and headed to bed instead.  I have a ton of TiVo to watch.  Three weeks of My Name Is Earl and The Office.  But since Sean likes those too, I haven’t watched them yet.  Must refuse to rent movies again until we sit down to watch them.

Off to get a few things finished so I can maybe lay down for a bit before I pick Hannah up from school.    TTFN

The X-ray does also include the word "Astronomy" the the same area and I did a little research.  X is for X-ray Astronomy.  Perhaps I should have listened in school more as I just don’t recall having heard of this before.  Please don’t ask me to explain it as I still am not sure what all means, but at least I get that it has an actual meaning on the sampler.

I spent the day doing the laundry and not much else…vacuuming, gave Hannah a bath, cleaned the bathroom counters, walked the tread mill.  But all the laundry is finished.  Lately it seems like there has been at least a load waiting to be finished.  Now there is not…until next week.

I did go thru my book pile to pick a couple of books for vacation.  I decided on Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons by  Lorna Landvik and Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kansella.  So now I have the books and stitching picked out to pack for vacation.

TTFN!

Day 45 of ATS

Finally I finished the GAST Pebble on ATS.  YEA!  I feel pretty good about the progress I made today.  I also finished the bird, the mouths of the Angels (okay, that was easy), the backstitching of the two smaller Angels’ wings and gold thingies within the Pebble area.

Last night I also finished stitching the Z is for Zero on the My Teacher project.  I will be going back to this one tomorrow.   On to the X though I am trying to figure something out about this one.  X is for X-ray but there is  a plant.

Well, off to sleep.  TTFN

Welcome Sweetheart

Yesterday we took Hannah to Build A Bear so that she could get her Valentine’s Day present a little early.  She didn’t know we were going and was very surprised.   She got the new limited Hearts bear and named her "Sweetheart".  She is, well, sweet!

Moving on to the letter Z

I finished the back stitching on the yoyo today while Hannah was in school.  Now I am moving on to the next letter…Z.  I have already stitched the letters, the word zero and part of the zero.  May even finish that up tomorrow.  I asked Sean and Hannah about the colors of the letters and they both liked them.  So I guess I will leave it that way.

Next month we are going on vacation to Disney! Today I went thru some small kits and pulled out a some to take with me.  I am sure that I won’t have much time for stitching but I want to be prepared.  I decided to take the Trilogy’s Welcome Home and Four Seasons and Heart In Hands’ Autumn Alphabet, Winter Alphabet, Spring Alphabet and Summer Alphabet.  I showed Sean and he said "isn’t that a lot for a week?".  So explained I didn’t know what mood I would be in so I wanted to cover my bases by having a little variety.  They are all pretty small.  And all but the Welcome Home kit I have had forever so if I get one done it will make me happy.

I don’t eat after 8 pm.  It is part my trying to lose and keep off a few pounds.  I started that about two or so years ago.  I have lost weight this way along with cutting out soda and sweet tea, walking the tread mill and attempting to not over eat.  My issue with occasionally over eating is that I don’t like leftovers, so when something is extra yummy I want to finish it even if I am full since very few things are as good reheated to me.  I am getting better about that and just letting it go.  Sean will usually take leftovers for lunch.  Anyway, most of the time not eating after 8 pm doesn’t bother me, but tonight I really want to snack.  I have yet a new favorite must have snack…Chocolate Drizzle snack mix from Archer Farms (Target).  I have been fighting the urge by stitching and drinking water.  But it isn’t working so I think I will head to bed before I give in.  TTFN!
