  6. Stitch the third snapper on Winter Snapperland on forth Saturday of the month (if not finished before) ~ didn’t get to this one at all

So the Kraft Food & Family Spring issue came about two weeks ago and there are several recipes in it I want to try.  First, this was the first issue that all of the recipes for the "One Bag, Five Dinners" section appealed to me.  So on Monday I went shopping and that night we had One-Pan Roast Pork with Parmesan Fries.  Yummy!  We will be having that again.  Last night we had Sweet Citrus Chicken.  It was much better than I expected.  Sean really liked it. 

Sean decided to get home from work a little early today since Hannah was getting out of school two hours early so that we could go to a movie.  We went to see TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).  Not my choice.  I do remember watching the show with my brother.  Anyway, the movie was better than I thought it would be and very entertaining.  The graphics were great.  Sean had to go get the game after for him and Hannah to play this weekend.  We decided to go to Panera for dinner…so now I have to cook the whole weekend! 

I have been stitching the bus on the teacher’s piece.  I am looking forward to getting this finished and I am almost there.  Hannah’s Spring Break starts next Wednesday and I don’t think that I will be getting a lot of stitching done during that time.  We have a few minor things planned. I am hoping the weather will be as nice as it has been the last few days.

I can’t believe that so much time has gone by without me writing an entry in my blog.  I hope that I can remember everything I have been up to this last week.

Tuesday was my usual day volunteering at school.  It was beautiful outside so I let Hannah play after school for about an hour before rushing home to have dinner and head out to Tae Kwon Do.  Wednesday I went to the LNS for an afternoon of stitching.  The PTA meeting was rescheduled for that night so I attended that. 

Thursday was a busy day.  I dropped Hannah off at school then went to the bookstore.  I went to get my nails done after that and they look great.  I couldn’t be happier with how they look.  I discovered a new pet store in the mall that just opened about a month ago.  They actually have dogs for sale.  I can’t remember the last time I saw that.  I did a little shopping for Hannah after falling in love with each puppy in the window.  When I picked Hannah up from school it was another beautiful day so she played at the park with her friends for awhile which meant we had to rush home for dinner and Tae Kwon Do again.   I also packed for the weekend.

Friday Sean worked from home so that we could take Hannah out of school a hour early.  Before we picked her up we went to get a quick hair cut, exchange the clothes I had gotten the day before for Hannah for the next size up, ended up wondering into B Moss and got a couple of things for myself then home to pack the car.  We managed to get to my parents house in time for dinner. 

Saturday was our Godson’s birthday party at the YMCA.  The kids had a blast.  After that we took my parents out for their anniversary dinner.  Tuesday will be their 25th!  Sunday was up early and home again.  After unpacking Hannah and I went to the park with a couple of neighbors.  After which I was exhausted since I didn’t sleep well at my parents and took short nap.  When I woke up I caught a look at myself in the mirror  and noticed that I had gotten sunburned while at the park.

I haven’t gotten much stitching done over the last week, none at all on Friday & Saturday.  I managed to finish restitching the crayons and started the bus before leaving for the weekend.  Yesterday I got a bit of stitching done on And They Sinned but not much.  I am not doing to well with the monthly goals.  This past weekend was UFO stitching and I didn’t get to that, haven’t finished Back To School ABC’s or Bless This House by La D Da, not have I punched the February kit.  There is always next month…

Today I have been busy doing the grocery shopping, cleaning the bathroom, laundry, vacuuming and even baked a cake.  Yummy Angel Food cake.  I picked up some strawberries and cool whip to serve with the cake.   Last week I received the Kraft Food magazine in the mail and decided to try the one bag, five dinners from it.  I didn’t really think it would all fit into one bag…but it did.  Now I am just hoping that the recipes are tasty.

Working Backwards

So, I was making great progress on the teacher’s gift Friday night and was well on my way to starting the school bus…the last main part of the design.  I discovered that there was a small mistake and ended up having to rip out everything I had stitched since Wednesday.  Once I got that done, I put it aside.  Even though I had said that I wasn’t going to stitch on other projects until the teacher’s gift was done, I did.  But just a little.  Today I am back at it re-stitching the area I had to rip out. 

Saturday Sean, Hannah and I went to the outlets and later to a furniture store where I placed an order for a new stitching chair.  A small recliner.  It will be delivered in one month’s time.  I feel a little guilty because it was a little more than I had wanted to spend but Sean said that there is nothing we can do about that.  My current chair is causing my hips, back and shoulders to hurt. 

My Godson called yesterday to tell me that his mom, one of my best friends in the world, is having a baby!  Yay!  Kyan is very excited because now both his step-mom and his mom are going to have babies.  His step-mom is due in mid-August.  And Nawana is due in October!  I am very excited about this because she said depending on how you figure the date her due date could be the 11th, which is Sean & my 10th anniversary.  I told her that we were expecting a big gift, so whatever she could do about that…LOL.

Step It Up!

My daughter kicked my a$$!  Two Fridays ago Hannah’s school (thanks to the efforts of the school’s physical education teacher and the generosity of the Coca-Cola company) gave every student a step-o-meter.  It is part of the "Live-It Program".  Today Hannah and I challenged one another to see who would walk the most steps for the day.  So we put our step counters on as we left for school.  Hannah took hers off when she had her bath at 6 pm  but later put it back on.  She had a total of 5732 steps.  Not bad in my opinion for a 6 year old, who wasn’t wearing it the first hour of the day, got out of school two hours early (all that missed walking the halls time), didn’t have recess and didn’t wear it the during most of the last two hours or so of her day.  Well on her way to the 10, 000 steps. 

I, on the other hand, didn’t do very well at all with only about 1600 steps recorded on my pedometer.  Now in defense of my couch potato ways, as per our deal, I didn’t wear the pedometer while walking my two+ miles on the treadmill today, because I thought it would put me at an unfair advantage.  Boy was I wrong!  I told her next time….I am wearing it on the treadmill.

The "Live-It Program" website is great.  There is great information on there about how to get your step count up (did you know that any physical activity can be converted to steps to help you reach that 10,000(+) total?) and ways to eat healthier.  Lots of these we have managed to change around here already.  We love fruits and veggies, have already switched over to the multi-grain pastas and are trying to up our fiber.  However, we can do better…or maybe that is just me.  Especially since last night I ate more Girl Scout Cookies than I care to admit.

I am going to keep challenging Hannah with keeping a step count and some of the other activities for exercise & nutrition hits from the website.  I am hoping that I will be able to get her to try new foods this way.  I think it will be good for both of us.

Tuesday and Wednesday were beautiful spring like days with temps in the mid-70’s.  Really lifting my spirits as I suffer from SAD during the winter months.  Today it is freezing!  We are under a winter weather advisory.  I drove Hannah to school in freezing rain and we are suppose to get snow flurries.  I received a text message that they are letting school out two hours early.

I woke up this morning with a slight migraine.  Slight meaning I was able to actually get out of bed and get Hannah ready for school.  I decided not to do the tread mill before school as I usually do.  I am taking it slower this morning and have managed to reduce it to an annoying headache.  So I do plan on getting my rear in gear and get to walking.  Today is also the day for working the abs.  I am determined to get into better shape.  I don’t plan nor want to be the weight I was when Sean and I got married, but since we are celebrating our 10th this October, I would like to be about 10-15 lbs lighter than I am right now.  I have also decided that since Hannah will be seven in July, it is time to lose some of those extra lbs from pregnancy.  That way people can also stop wondering…is she or isn’t she expecting another?  I am not totally unhappy with my weight, just with where it has migrated around my middle.  Very heart unhealthy and heart disease does run in my family, so I want to prevent what I can and teach Hannah a healthier way. 

I have been pretty good in keeping with my goals that I have set for myself.  I keep reading that it takes only three weeks to change a habit.  Last month I walked every other day without fail.  This month…starting the first full week and with the exception of Sunday…I have walked the tread mill every day and done ab workout at least three times a week.  Strangely though…I haven’t lost a pound!  Every time I weight myself (about every other week) I weigh the exact same. But I have noticed a very slight difference in the way some clothes fit.

Guess I should get moving since I have a few other things to do around the house before picking up the munchkin.

It’s getting there…

I am about 2/3 finished.  I am hoping that by this time next week it will be finished. (see below…for some reason I have been having trouble posting pictures in the entry)

Last week I picked up a couple of Real Simple magazine for the first time.  I looked thru and found two recipes that I thought Sean and I would both like.  Last night I made Chicken Paprikash and tonight I made Spaghetti with Beef Mushroom Sauce.  Let’s just say….I will be making both again.  Very yummy.  Something that I liked about the magazine is the shopping list broken down by recipe.  This made my shopping on Tuesday very easy.
