Recap of November Stitching Goals
So I managed to stitch on only one of my goals and that is it. I just haven’t been in the mood much of the last two months, very slow progress being made around here. The last week has been the most I have actually stitched, so perhaps the slump is over. We shall see…
I have been thinking about the Christmas Dinner Menu the last few days. The other day I pulled out my red menu folder. When I first started hosting the family Christmas Dinner, I got a plain red school folder with three binder clips and put some page protectors in it. Once I decided what I wanted to make for dinner from my various cook books, I typed them up, printed them out and put them in the folder. When my mother-in-law saw it, she made fun of me, but I have kept this folder adding recipes that I want to try since I add something new every year and pulling out others. It works for me and all my recipes are together for the big day so that I don’t have to go searching for them or have half a dozen cook books out taking up what little space I have available in my galley kitchen. This year I am adding the Best Ever Corn Casserole. It will stay in the red folder…I am already sure on this.
I need to decide what appetizers to serve when my in-laws come for hubby’s side of the family gathering. I would much prefer one celebration, but a couple of years ago my MIL decided she didn’t like sharing the holidays with my side of the family and started doing a separate thing. Basically we gather at either my BIL or here, exchange gifts and then go out for dinner on MIL. Last year we met here and are again this year as well since we are about half between MIL and BIL. I adore my SIL and always look forward to see and spending time with her.
We have had a busy day. After dropping Hannah off at school, Sean and I decided it was time to do the leaves. So we head outside but can’t get the leaf blower to start. We get out both the racks and get to it. Two hours later we had the back & front yards done. We are both already planning for the soreness to set in. Mine will be in my shoulder and elbow joints. But it is done and shouldn’t have to be done again…this year, except for a few strays.
We had to pick up Hannah a hour early from school to head over to the doctor’s office for her flu shot. Then to the vet’s office for pick up some much needed and some not as needed depending on the dog it was for, heartworm and flea/tick stuff. We went out to dinner and then to Best Buy. Sean has been insisting for a while that I was in great need of a new laptop. The one I have is only three hours old but he found a great deal on a new Gateway that has built in webcam. He is going to set it up tomorrow which means that I really should be saving what I need from this one. But I will wait until next week sometime. No hurry really. And yes, it is part of my Christmas but he isn’t making me wait.
Lots to do this month…get the house cleaned and ready for company, put up and decorated the tree, send out the Christmas cards, wrap gifts, and a dozen or so other things that I am sure I will remember later. I picked up our cards at Wal-mart the other day. I decided to do a double photo card…a picture of the three of us in NYC and a picture of Hannah from her Princess make-over when we were in Disney in October. I like them but Hannah said it wasn’t "Christmas-y" enough.
Off to stitch…finally!
