I am bored.  Not really sure why. I just have this feeling that I have nothing interesting to do.  Which is of course not true.  I have plenty that needs to be done around the house, but don’t feel like doing any of it.  I could be reading, but don’t feel like getting up to go get my book, which Hannah carried in for me from the car while I carried in the groceries and then she put it on the bench by the front door.  And as always, I could be stitching.  But I know as soon as I pull it out, a dog is going to bug me because she needs to go outside.  Speak of the little …Daisy needs to go outside.  At least she is telling me now, so I will be back….

(do be do be do)

And as always, if one needs to go out the other one decides she needs to go out, too.  Oh crap…I forgot to grab my book on the way back up the stairs.

Last night I finished reading "speak softly, she can hear you".  It was a pretty good read.  I had an idea that what happened in the beginning wasn’t what really happened.  I am now reading A Dog’s Life which is a book I bought last year for Hannah, but knew I wanted to read too.  Considering I have been out of the forth to sixth grade for a long time it shouldn’t take me to long to finish.  At least I hope that my speed reader daughter doesn’t show me up.  Who am I kidding?  She probably would have finished it already.

Sean is in Seattle for the week at an event called TechReady.  I think he will have a good time and hopefully learn a thing or two.  He is using the opportunities to take some test for certifications.  However, he is being missed around here.  Thankfully, we have VBS this week and some plans with friends to keep us busy.

Saturday was my friend’s wedding.  I thought she would make a pretty bride since she is such a pretty woman, but boy, was I wrong.  She wasn’t a pretty bride…she was a beautiful bride.  I love her dress.  I took some pictures…okay truthfully my friend Wendy’s hubby took the pictures for me with my camera, as he has the same one but actually knows how to use it…but I don’t want to post any pictures without her permission.  But trust me, she was gorgeous and it was a lovely wedding.

Well, time to put my munchkin to bed.  I will actually pull out the stitching and hopefully have some progress to show.

A few weeks ago, Hannah came out of her room with a book she had finished reading.  There was a recipe in the book that she asked if we could try.  Hannah is a very picky eater, so if she wants to try something…the answer is yes.  And today we finally did.  Together we made homemade spaghetti sauce.  She already loves spaghetti so…

The ingredients

Tomatoes peeled and drained

Diced onions, carrots, celery and garlic

Diced tomatoes…we used the new chopper I got last week to dice all the veggies

All the ingredients including fresh basil, salt, pepper and a bit of sugar

After simmering for 30 minutes

Since Hannah is almost a vegetarian, I cooked up this sweet Italian sausage for Sean and me.

And the finished product.  The verdict…It was pretty good.  I would make this again, but I would chop the carrots & celery much smaller.  Hannah said she liked it a little but I think the veggies were much to big for her.

My Sunshine

An actual honest to goodness finish!  I finished My Sunshine by La D Da this afternoon.  I love this song.  I stitched this for my own little sunshine, but I haven’t decided how I am going to finish it yet.  I guess since I don’t sew, I should say I haven’t decided how I am going to have it finished it yet.  Or if I will just frame it.

Hello, my name is Annette and I am a Coach-aholic.  Yesterday morning we picked Hannah up from her sleep-over, we headed to the outlets to go to Harry & David’s.  We had decided that we wanted to get some things for gifts for Christmas.  (I am going to make baskets with things we got.)  So now we have two gifts marked off our list.  Picked up some things for ourselves too…I got some Banana Peanut Butter that I can’t wait to dig into.  I had a sample and I was surprised at how good it was.

After that we headed to Build-A-Bear so Hannah could get her birthday present.  This year on her birthday we gave her gift cards and planned a day that we would go.  So…say hello to Mulan the Panda Bear.  Hannah also got her a little blow up chaise lounge.

We also stopped by William-Sonoma so that I could pick up a couple of things.  I got this new multi-chopper and I can’t wait to use it.  I hope that it works the way they claim.  :0)

Friday night

Hannah has abandoned me again.  She is at a sleep over at a friend’s house.  She is having a good time.  The mom and I are good friends and IM a lot on-line, so I have gotten the scoop.  JoJo will miss her come bedtime.

Sean and I took advantage.  We went to see a movie.  Hancock.  It was pretty good.  I love Will Smith.  He has come such a long way and is an amazing actor, IMHO.  Can’t wait to see what movie he comes out with next.

Sean is playing games.  I was going to watch some shows on DVR but got hooked on watching the Dog Whisperer.  Good show.  I did get a little stitching done too.  I really, and I mean really, almost finished with My Sunshine by La D Da.  Another couple of days of good stitching time and I should finished.  Fingers crossed.  Though that makes it harder to stitch.

Well, long day tomorrow…must head to bed soon.

Today my baby, my joy, my little Sweetpea is EIGHT!  I am not sure where the time went as it doesn’t seem like eight years ago that she was born.  I hope she knows how much she is loved and how much joy she has brought to our lives.  She is so sweet, kind, funny, smart and compassionate.  She is growing into a incredible young lady and I feel so very blessed to be her mother.  And I know that Sean feels the same way…except of course being her dad.

On Saturday we had her party at Chuck E. Cheese.  She had a blast and really enjoyed spending time with her friends.

On Sunday she went to a friend’s birthday (which is actually tomorrow) party and had a lot of fun there.

We had company for the weekend.  BFF-N and her family came to celebrate with Hannah.  I was happy to spend some time with her, her hubby & our God-children.

I couldn’t sleep this morning so instead of tossing and turning I decided to just crawl out of bed and enjoy a little quite time before the rug-rats (dogs) and Sweetpea got up.  I put on a pot of tea and read my emails & blogs.  It has been nice.

I have been wanting this DMC Needlework bag for about two years.  I kept saying I was going to order it, but didn’t want to pay for the high shipping cost.  I don’t mind paying for shipping but hate to pay high shipping cost.  Anyway, yesterday Hannah and I stopped into AC Moore to look for some little plastic horses for her birthday party cake and to get her a small craft to do in the afternoon.  Of course, I had to check out the cross-stitch department.  It is becoming smaller and sad looking.  However, they recently got in the DMC bag!!  So I picked one up with the 40% off coupon!  I didn’t need another project bag…at all…but I wanted it and I am sure it will be well used.

I have also been stitching on the border of My Sunshine by LA D Da.  If I keep focused…HAHA…I may actually finish it this month.

Today’s plan…a little housework, exercise, hanging out with Hannah, stitching, reading, Tae Kwon Do (Hannah has agreed to continue with the alternative of taking the self defense class in place of sparring for a little while), getting some things together to take to Goodwill and the checkbook.

Speed Reader

No, this isn’t about me, but my daughter.  Yesterday Hannah read two and a half books!  She finished one she started on Sunday and read two more.  Now granted she isn’t reading War and Peace, but she is reading chapter books and has been since first grade.  She is into the Katie Kazoo books right now.  Two of the books she read yesterday we bought her on Sunday when we went after church.

Friday I did a little stitching.  I didn’t get much done but did finish the square border for the next Holiday Snapper I am going to (try to) finish this month.

Yesterday we had a lazy day watching movies.  So I took advantage and did some stitching.

Today we went to church, Panera, the bookstore and Wal-mart.  It wouldn’t be Sunday without a trip to Wal-mart is seems.  But we needed cereal and Gatorade so it couldn’t be avoided.  After we came home for a bit we headed back out to go see the Kit Kittridge: An American Girl movie and get some dinner.  The movie was very good.  Hannah and I enjoyed it and can’t wait to add it to our DVD collection.  It wasn’t really Sean’s kind of movie but that is because he is a big ol’ stinkin’ boy.

A little while ago Sean and Daisy were sitting on the sofa.  Sean asked Daisy to fetch the remote, her reaction… she looked at him for a few seconds before crawling to the other end of the couch

trying to hide under the throw pillow.  Her point…she doesn’t fetch!

Today is my favorite holiday.  I hope everyone has a wonderful time celebrating, having cookouts, watching fireworks and remembering those who have and are serving so that we can celebrate our freedom.

We have had a wonderful day so far.  We were up early so that I could put the ribs in the crock-pot…will be putting on the grill later… then out for breakfast at Cracker Barrel before heading to the first showing of Wall-E which happens to be a very sweet movie.  We went out for a little treat and got ice cream at Cold Stone.  Later we will be having ribs with fruit salad and watermelon margaritas.  Yum-Yum!  I also made a cream (sauce?) for the fruit salad which I found at my favorite website when looking for something good to eat.

I finished reading Mr Monk and the Two Assistants last night.  I am a big fan of the show Monk and really wanted to like the book.  It wasn’t bad, but for now I think I will stick to the show.  I might read some of the other books later though.

I am also stitching a wee bit.  I made a little progress on Circus of Circles.

Well, what can I say?  I haven’t been doing very well with my goals this year.  And I didn’t do well this month…once again.  I have barely picked up my stitching.  My June Goals were as follows…

  • Stitch on Circus of Circles ~ Just so my goals wouldn’t look so bad…I pulled this out and put a few stitches in it before the month was over…that counts!
  • Stitch on & Finish My Sunshine by La D Da ~ I stitched on this but didn’t finish it.  I was working on the border found a big mistake in the counting of the border and ended up frogging it out.  Then I put it aside in disgust.  I have finally started working on it again.
  • Stitch on & finish the teacher’s end of year gift ~ Finished, just in time.  I hope her teacher liked it.
  • Stitch on Ezmeralda’s House by Brightneedle or An Advent Calendar by Hobb Nobb Designs ~  Nope, I looked at Ezzie’s house a couple of times, even took it with me when I went out somewhere I thought I might get a moment or two to stitch, but didn’t actually stitch on it.

This month after I finished the teacher’s gift I decided to start something new.  So I dug out the kitted up Bent Creek Holiday Snappers.  Which I realized later wasn’t even on my goal list of the year.  Oh well.  I did finish one square but then put it aside to actually stitch on some goals…not much happened there.
