Home is where you are

I finished this last night after having stitched on it about an hour on Monday night.  It is a small kit (like Believe) from Shepherd’s Bush.  I love it!  I haven’t decided what to stitch on next.

Hannah is having her pictures at school taken today.  She missed last month when they took them because she was sick.  I hope they come out okay.  Not worried about her, unlike me, she is photogenic by sometimes the people taking pictures aren’t always that great.

We put up our tree pretty early this year.  Due to being pretty busy most of the month the weekend after Thanksgiving was really the only time we had to do it.  Sean said last night that he would like to put it up every year right after Thanksgiving.  We also decided not to put my tree topper that I had before we got married…it is a Mickey Mouse topper…but to get a new one.  We went shopping for a new "star" topper but I was very disappointed with what was out there.  Yesterday there was a Hallmark catalog in the mail that has what we think is the perfect topper.  So I am heading off today to get it.  We are going to start another new tradition this year and put the "star" on top of the tree on Christmas Eve.  We usually put it on first before decorating.  TTFN

Believe

So we went to get a pictures done…:0(…I can’t believe how much money we spent for pictures that I don’t like, except for Hannah’s of course.  But I fixed my hair right before we go in and some how my bangs get all messed up and look horrible.  Of course, you don’t know that until they are finished and you are viewing them at the computer to order.  We ended up not getting a package but ordering some sheets of a few poses.  Afterwards, we went to eat, but by then I wasn’t flipping well.  The flash ended up triggering a migraine, so we came home and I went to bed after taking some medicine.  We had planned on decorating the tree, but by the time I got up it was to late.

Last night I started Believe a kit from Shepherd’s Bush while watching Desperate Housewives.  I worked on it about 2 1/2 hours before I just couldn’t anymore and had to head back to bed.  Though my head had mostly stopped hurting, I was still feeling the other side effects.  So, after dropping off Hannah at school, I came home and finished it up.  Now I should get busy finishing the laundry, making a grocery list and getting a few other things done around here.  TTFN!

Cherish Dream Live

designed by Lizzie*Kate

I finished this late last night while watching a bit of TiVo that DH and I had recorded while we were at my parents.  I love this one!  I stitched it on a 28 count Silkweaver Solo using GAST and WDW.  I will be stitching this one again (soon) for us.

Last night I did a bit of shopping on-line.  I had gotten the new catalog from Disney in the mail yesterday and when I was glancing thru it I discovered a garment bag that matches the luggage set I bought earlier this year.  And it was on sale!  So I went on-line to order it.  And when I pulled it up it was $10 less than the catalog, so I got it for $19.99.   I was so happy because I wanted a garment bag and was just going to buy a red one.  And of course, I found a couple of other things to get.  I ordered a tote bag (though I didn’t personalize it) and a Chicken Little Lunch Tote for Hannah’s Chicken Little PVC’s.  All on sale and I earned five times the reward points for online ordering.

Today will be a busy day.  We are going to go get our family pic taken, go looking for a new tree topper, have lunch out and decorate the tree.  And for me personally, start stitching a new project or stitch on the Dollhouse…haven’t decided yet.  TTFN

Today’s "Stitching Blogger’s
Question" was suggested by Kimberly (
http://institches1.blogspot.com/
) and is:

Do you
always sign your projects? If not, why? If so, do you use your first name,
initials or what?

Yes, I do sign my projects.  I
am not positive if with every project that I have stitched that I have signed,
but I am pretty sure that it would be very few that I didn’t.  I use
my initials.  Before getting married I used the first, middle and last
initials of my name.  Since getting married, I have just added the initials
to the three to include my married name initial.  I also stitch the
year now but haven’t always.

That said, I have actually decided
to not sign the L*K Cherish Dream Live…though I could change my mind.  My
plan at the moment is to have it framed and then add the informative to the back
to also include Hannah’s name since it will be given to her speech
therapist.

We had a good time at my parents’ house.  We left earlier on Wednesday then we originally planned since Hannah didn’t go to school.  She no longer had a fever but she is still stuffy and coughing.  Anyway, it was a good thing we left early.  It took has almost two hours longer than usual due to Holiday traffic.  But we arrived safe and sound.

Dinner on Thursday was great.  We had turkey with all the trimmings.  My uncle and his wife were there for the day.  Dad does all the cooking for Thanksgiving so we had a pretty relaxing day.  We watched The Polar Express after my uncle & wife left.  I love that movie, it really gets you into the Christmas spirit.

On Friday, my mom, Hannah and I braved the "Black Friday" shopping.  I was able to get a couple of gifts for others as well as a couple of things I wanted for me.  :0)  That night we also watched a couple of movies….Stealth and Beyond the Sea.

We left early today to beat the weekend traffic and got home at lunch time.  Since I didn’t go food shopping last week, we unloaded the car, checked on the cat, got the Christmas decorations out of storage and headed out to eat lunch.  We also went searching for one more gift for Hannah.  While at my parents, my mom asked her what she wanted for Christmas and she said that she wanted a blue Kinder Garden Babies.

About two months ago we saw and advertisement on TV for them but she hadn’t said anything about it until Thursday.  We could only find them at Target but not in the blue.  So, home again to find them on-line.  Ordered and hopefully will arrive within the next two weeks as they are on back order until the end of the month.  While out searching, we did get a few more gifts for others and now are almost officially done.  Mostly what we have left will be the gift certificates we have decided to get for family.

Sean put up the Christmas tree a little while ago.  All lights are still in working order…Yea!  Tomorrow we are going to get our family picture taken and then we will be coming home to decorate the tree.  Every year on Thanksgiving my mom gives us a bag full of new ornaments from Hallmark.  It is one of her traditions that I will have to carry on when Hannah is older.

Stitching time was very limited.  I did get a few minutes on Wednesday and Thursday but none yesterday.  I have one more word on the L*K piece and it will be finished…tonight.  Then what?  I haven’t decided.  The LNS owner, who is also a good friend, called while we were gone to let me know that my framed The Seasons was ready, so I will be going Wednesday to pick it up.

Off to finish the L*K piece…TTFN

Two for Tuesday

I have been cleaning
house most of the day and clearing out a corner of the living room for the
Christmas tree.  I still have a few things to do tomorrow, but I got about
90% of what I wanted to done.  Tomorrow we will be leaving for Thanksgiving
so I also packed today.  I still have to pack Hannah’s bag.

Hannah has actually
gotten sick again.  When I picked her up from school she had a fever.
They requested that we not bring her to school tomorrow.  She is pretty
upset about that.  I tried explaining that if she has a fever she is more
likely to get others sick.  Whatever she had a few weeks ago is making its
way around the class and poor Hannah is on her second round.  The cough
this time is much worse sounding then before.  It never fails though, I
can’t remember her not being sick with a cold or something during
November.  Hopefully, this will be it for the season.

On the stitching news, I
stitched on the (#1) L*K Cherish Dream Live piece today and I am
almost finished with it…just three more words left to stitch.  But the
6×8 q-snap I was using is a bit to small. So I started looking for the 6×11
q-snap.  I searched every where for it.  Then I remembered that I had
a secret project hidden that it was being used for and it was still in the
project bag.  So I fished it out.  Then I decided to actually stitch
on the (#2) secret project.  It has been awhile and I pretty much had
forgotten about it.

It is for Sean and it is
a Penn State design.  He had spent two years there before joining the
Navy.  Then he got is degree from University of Maryland, so I have a
design for that too.  But Penn State is where his heart is being from PA
and all.  I figure that if I stitch on it a little a little while he
is at work and at night after he has gone to bed , I might actually finish it
sometime.

Off to
bed…TTFN

Monday Blues

Laundry day…enough
said.  :0)  Today I will spend doing the laundry.  Later, I will
finish raking the leaves.  Sean used the yard blower on Saturday but
there is an area that he missed that I decided to get to today before the city
comes by to clean the street.

I started the L*K piece
that I wanted to stitch for the school’s speech therapist for the end of year
gift.  When we met earlier this month, she explained that it is a two month
long process to get her started.  She came up to me today when I was
dropping off Hannah and said that she had our next meeting set up for December
9…about a month sooner that expected.  She has already done the testing,
I’ll find out more about that at the meeting and told me that she has
already started working with Hannah when she visits the classroom to
see other students.

Tomorrow I will be
spending the day cleaning the house from top to bottom and packing.  We
will be leaving after school to visit my parents for Thanksgiving.  Only a
couple of days but when we go away I like to leave the house spotless so that it
is all clean when we come home.  So I won’t get much stitching time in
tomorrow during the day but I am still hoping to finish the L*K piece by
Wednesday.

Well off to do my daily
walk on the treadmill and rake the leaves.  Perhaps get a little stitching
in this afternoon before picking my little munchkin up.

Rejoice!!

I have another finish.  I started Rejoice by the Trilogy yesterday while at my LNS Red Hat Stitcher’s group and I finished it a little while ago.  I loved stitching this.  It was so quick.  I haven’t yet decided if I will have it finished into an ornament or framed…I am leaning toward ornament.  Maybe I will even be brave enough to finish it myself.

Now…what to stitch next?  I am thinking another (hopefully) quick Christmas themed design or to stitch the smallest of the teacher’s end of the year gift.

I have started thinking about the Christmas Dinner menu.  I usually have the standards…turkey, stuffing, ham, green beans, red potatoes, broccoli salad and pumpkin pie.  Then I like to add a new side and appetizer to mix it up.  So yesterday before going to the LNS I pulled out my cookbooks to look thru them this week.  I haven’t ran across anything that seems like a must have yet.  I do know this.  That since we have big plans on Christmas Eve, it will have to be something that is quick to prep early on Saturday or to make on Sunday.  I request no help in my kitchen on the holiday.  We have a small galley kitchen so it would just be to much trouble to have more than one cook.  Oh, my mom will make Deviled Eggs but once I hard boil them she sits at the dining room table to fix them up.

And Sean has agreed that I can mix things up on the broccoli salad.  I am going to make it with cranisins instead of raisins this year.  Since it is his favorite and what he most looks forward to, I felt it would be best to ask is opinion before I go changing it.

I have a new addiction…Pink Lady apples…YUMMY!  They are so tasty.  My friend told me about them so when I sow them in the store I picked her up some and got a few for us.  I can’t get enough of them.  My friend tells me that she only finds them a few times a year.  So I must get my fill of them while I can.  I have also discovered Honey Crisp apples too.  Also very yummy.  At least I am eating healthy…:0)

Well I know that I wanted to blog about something else but have now forgotten what it was.  Perhaps I will remember later.  TTFN!

Key West Sampler

It’s finished!  This design is from Brightneedle and I stitched it with the Gumnuts Silk Threads on 28 or 32 (I can’t remember) count over one.  I frogged more times than I can remember on this piece…

The week’s SBQ was about how you feel about fixing mistakes.  At the time I answered, I knew there was a small error…I was one stitch off in the border.  As I was pretty the last 12 stitches into this tonight I noticed a much larger error.  But I have chosen not to rip it out and re-stitch it.  I think it looks fine the way it is.
