Oh, I like the idea of this. I have been reading updates from Stitching The Night Away for a couple of months now (I have the wonderful fabric calculator app on my iPhone…love it and it is so handy to have!) and today I received an email about her starting a blog hop. The idea is a stitching related question is asked, people blog about it and post to her site a link to your blog then you can read other blogs, hopefully find new followers to your blog, make new bloggy friends… you get the idea.
So here is the first Blog Hop topic.
Have you ever had a case of the “stitching blahs” where you just didn’t want to stitch? Or maybe it was more like you didn’t get to stitch because you were busy and that created a chain reaction sense of the “blahs” and led to even less stitching…. sort of like a case of “the Mondays” that we are all familiar with. How do you handle your stitching blahs and get back into stitching mode?
Boy, have I ever! A few years ago it started. And lasted over a year. I am not sure why but I think it was a combination of things. The LNS in town that was owned by my dear friend had to close, I was to tired most days to make the effort (I was diagnosed last fall with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis) and after sometime I realized I wasn’t enjoying stitching when I was doing it because I couldn’t really see the fabric. I started using drug store readers and that made a huge difference. Last year I went to the eye doctor’s and got bifocals.
I have been doing well for about the last year and a half or so with keeping the blahs away. When they do sneak back up, sometimes I just force myself to pick a project up and that helps.

Why does day-to-day life always have to get in the way of our stitching? I’m so glad I started off the blog hops with this question because I think it is something that happens to a lot of stitchers, its good to know we’re not alone out there in the world.
Yes, yes it does. I am really glad you are doing the blog hops. I enjoy reading stitching blogs and getting inspiration from them.
Readers made a huge difference for me and my stitching too! Amazing how much more fun stitching is when you can actually see it! Good lighting also helps. 🙂
Yeah, I’m using them too…
Hello
So glad you are able to stitch again.
I’m lucky me blahs only occur if I have to repeatedly unpick the same piece of stitching. I just put it away and try again in a few days.
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis but so glad that you got over your stitching blahs. I also wear bifocals and when I first got them I could not believe the difference they made!
